My most recent body of work “Flora and Fauna” is grounded in landscape and how we perceive and interact with nature here in Southern California.  Our current drought has changed both our attitudes and habits – I think we see and behave differently now and can’t just take the lush environment for granted anymore.  Two themes of both the desert and water run through these paintings; we live in a parched land next to the largest ocean on earth.  These paintings also seek to marry abstraction and realism creating a reconciliation between opposites, like how we live here in SoCal.
